 “Meet Purity Wambui born in September 2014. Like""" any pregnant woman we waited patiently for her arrival. Her pregnancy period was very smooth intact she was very playful in her later home (sometimes she would play and if at all I was walking, bending, sitting had to look for a comfortable position for her to enjoy herself

). Trouble began in the labour ward where after labouring for 19hours the doctors told me that her heartbeat was going down and in fact I stopped feeling her movements. Emergency C-section it was. On reaching the theatre the doctors asked me to accept whatever outcomes since they thought she was dead. "mtoeni tu île heartbeat atatoka nayo ndiyo ataishi nayo" those were my words from the theatre bed. For sure my baby didn't cry immediately after birth but she did later with a faint voice. She started convulsing immediately after resuscitation and therefore has been on anticonvulsants since birth.in terms of milestones achievement, we are yet to achieve much for we are yet to sit unsupported, stand control the head, toileting, reach and grasp toys.luckily we have been able to reduce spasticity(muscle tone) since she is mixed type of cerebral palsy. Raising Purity is an uphill task as we struggle with diapers, therapy sessions, constipation at times, swallowing problems: her feeding is a hectic process.Nevertheless she is a heavenly sent princess. Seeing her is worth the process.”
